Body Oriented Therapy

The Connection Between Our Body and Mind

Tired of feeling down, anxious, or simply not your best?

Ready to do more than just talk about it?

If so, body oriented therapy may be for you.

With body oriented therapy, we will explore not only your thoughts and emotions, but also the physical sensations, postures, and gestures that come with them.

Have you ever had butterflies in your stomach before meeting someone new, or felt sleepy at work and immediately energized once you left the office, or had a huge headache after having a difficult conversation? If so, that’s because these are common examples of how our physical sensations can be directly tied to our experiences. However, there are many ways our bodies respond to thoughts, emotions, and circumstances that are unique to us as individuals.

Tuning into your body can help you understand your feelings, thoughts, and life experiences more deeply. This understanding can support you in being the person you want to be and creating the life you want to have.

The first step to change is becoming aware of how you are feeling, thinking, and being now.

Struggle with depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem?

If so, you are not alone, and you can feel better.

Depression

“On the outside, I seem happy and successful in my life, but when I’m home alone, my feelings of loneliness, sadness, and hopelessness surface to the top.”

“I feel like there is something inside that is preventing me from feeling more alive, and I just don’t know what it is.”

“I can’t stop crying, I can barely get out of bed, and I don’t know why.”

Anxiety

“I am always worrying about one thing or another, and I’m tired of it!”

“I am constantly worried about how I look, what I might say during a conversation, and what others are thinking about me. I can't turn this off.”

Self-Esteem

“I’m always doing things to prove my self-worth, and I take it really hard when someone criticizes me.”

“I feel ashamed of myself and what happened to me.”

“I’m always comparing myself to others. I’m such a screw up, and my life is a complete wreck.

Self-care Concerns

“I am so busy in my life that I forget to take care of myself. Sometimes it takes me being sick or completely exhausted before I slow down.”

“I want to connect to my body and take better care of myself without feeling selfish or guilty about it.”

“I can’t let myself stop, everyone is depending on me, and I can’t let anyone down.”

Get to know yourself better and make positive changes in your life from the inside-out.

Wherever you are on your path is the perfect place to start.

Imagine yourself....

  • getting out of bed without much effort
  • feeling good about yourself without constantly needing the approval of others
  • being able to relax your mind and body during your free time or,
  • looking in the mirror and simply liking the person you see

With the right support, you can have more of what you want in your life. You just have to be willing to take the first step in that direction.
